When Keepin It Curly Goes Wrong

Dear fellow beauty bloggers:

I need help.

I am out of my tried and true Ms. Jessie’s Curly Buttercream and I am experiencing serious pocket shock just thinking about paying $58 for another jar.

I need some alternatives and they need to be as moisturizing and effective without being heavy or greasy. So, tell me what you know. Should I try Carols Daughter Healthy Hair Butter? Mixed Chicks Leave in Conditioner/Styling Cream or should I just fork over the $58 large and quit crying already?? If you’ve done a comparison, or you have knowledge of the effectivness of any, all or other types of curly cream let me know. I think with the help of a spoon and some patience I can get one more day out of my jar…..maybe.

wish I could help, but since I have fine curly hair (re: frizzy), I end up blowing it out every night, ot using a flat iron every day. I haven't found a single product that lets me wear it curly- ie, defines the curls without being too heavy for my super-fine hair.

but, if you need advise on what blow-out creams are the best, I'm your girl.

That's a tough one and unfortunately I don't have the right hair type to give you advice. What I can offer up is that every time I have substituted a less expensive product for the one I love, just because of cost, I've been very disapointed. Not that other products aren't as good, they could even be better, but when it's done as cost issue it has never worked out for me.

Fork over the $58 large...

No seriously, you won't like anything else Avin. I reviewed the Ojon cream the other day and that's great, but that's $30 for a tube so you may as well just get what you need.

Sorry girl...

my girlfriend Gab saves her loose change to buy Buttercream cuz she's waitress. Now that's devotion. I just requested a sample of the Mixed Chicks Leave In and they are sending it free. Do that so at least you'l get some free and save your loose change. Believe me, I'm out of Purity Made simple and I don't want fork over just $20 for that.I haven't receive a CS check for day care.

Thanks ladies....I guess I have to do what I have to do. It sucks though because I just moved and money is a little tight. I guess I would rather be broke than look like a chia pet though.

Avin,
We broke-ass black girls in academia (grad school, really) have been using Carol's Daughter. I really like it. Now, one of my girls says that it somewhat makes her hair a bit straighter after a few days rather than letting her keep her kink. I guess I got that hare-core Kunta Kinte hair. Doesn't affect me.

Hope that helps!

Well, here's a tip from another "broke-ass girl in academia" - Try Jane Carter Solution's Hair Nourishing Cream ($20)

If you don't like it, well, in the words of The Makeup Girl "fork over the 58 large" and get what you like.

Mixed Chicks is great. You have to try it. It is a great medium priced product that I would gladly pay much more for. www.mixedhicks.net
